Lett Terms of Service — v1.0.0
Effective: 2026-06-28 Version: 1.0.0
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Lett, a tutoring marketplace operated by Lett Inc. ("Lett", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Lett mobile app, you agree to these Terms together with our Privacy Policy, our Cancellation/No-Show Policy, and our App Usage Policy.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (eighteen) to create a Lett account, list yourself as a tutor, or book sessions. Lett is not designed for, and is not directed to, anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close the account.
2. Your Account
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the information on your profile, including name, contact email, location, and any tutor credentials, qualifications, or certifications you list.
- You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure (email/password, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In).
- You may not create more than one live account, share your account with another person, or impersonate another person on the platform.
- You may use the same email across providers only by completing the social-linking flow Lett provides; we do not allow duplicate live accounts for the same person across Google, Apple, and email/password.
3. Roles on the Platform
Lett supports two primary roles:
- Tutors offer tutoring services in one or more disciplines, set their own availability, and accept bookings from clients.
- Clients discover tutors, view availability, and book sessions.
A user may be both a client and a tutor, but the role on a given action determines the responsibilities of that action.
Lett provides the platform; tutors are independent service providers and are not employees of Lett. A tutor's relationship with Lett is governed by the Tutor Agreement, under which the tutor is an independent contractor who supplies tutoring directly to clients, and Lett acts as the tutor's limited agent solely to collect and remit payment for sessions. Lett does not supervise, control, or guarantee any tutor's services, qualifications, or outcomes.
4. Bookings and Payments
- When you book a session, you authorize the displayed total — lesson amount plus the platform booking fee — to be charged to your payment method.
- Payments are processed by our payment processor under its terms of service. Lett does not store raw card numbers; our payment processor stores and tokenizes payment-method data.
- Tutors receive payouts through our payment processor after their identity is verified. Payouts and payout timing are subject to our payment processor's policies in addition to Lett's policies.
- Lett charges a platform booking fee to clients on each booking. The fee is shown to you before you commit to pay.
- Some tutors subscribe to a Lett plan under which Lett discounts the platform booking fee on their bookings. Where you see a strikethrough price next to a discounted fee, the strikethrough amount is Lett's standard (non‑subscriber) booking fee for that booking; you are only charged the discounted amount shown.
5. Cancellation and No-Show
Refunds, no-show outcomes, tutor-side cancellation, platform-fault refunds, and duplicate-charge refunds are governed by the Cancellation/No-Show Policy. The Cancellation/No-Show Policy is part of these Terms by reference. Read it before booking; we do not duplicate the refund matrix here.
Note: an authorization that expires or is declined before payment is captured is not a charge and is not a refund — no money moves.
6. Platform Conduct and App Usage
You agree to use Lett respectfully and lawfully. The detailed conduct expectations — accurate profiles, respectful communication, prohibited content, prohibited misuse of bookings or payments, and the reporting/moderation process — live in the App Usage Policy. The App Usage Policy is part of these Terms by reference.
7. Messaging & User Content
Lett includes in-app messaging so that a client and a tutor who are connected on the platform can exchange messages and images with each other.
- You keep ownership of the content you send. By submitting content, you grant Lett a perpetual, non-exclusive license to store, transmit, and display that content for the purpose of operating the service — for example, delivering your messages to the other person and showing the conversation history.
- We have zero tolerance for objectionable content. You may not send content that is illegal, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, spam, or that infringes another person's rights.
- Lett may monitor and moderate message content, remove content that violates these Terms or the App Usage Policy, and suspend or terminate the accounts of abusive users.
- You may not use messaging to solicit or arrange sessions off-platform, or to circumvent Lett's booking and payment flow.
- You can report any message and block any user from within the app. We review and act on reports of objectionable content within 24 hours.
8. Prohibited Misuse
You may not:
- Use Lett to facilitate fraud, money laundering, payment circumvention, or chargeback abuse.
- Encourage clients or tutors to transact off-platform to avoid the Lett booking fee.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or programmatically access non-public Lett endpoints.
- Upload content you do not have the right to share, or content that infringes another person's rights.
- Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users.
9. Service Availability
Lett is provided on an "as available" basis. We may add features, change features, take features down for maintenance, or suspend the service to protect users or to comply with legal or platform requirements. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
10. Termination and Suspension
You may close your account at any time from Profile → "Delete account". Lett may suspend or terminate an account if we believe it is being used to violate these Terms, the App Usage Policy, applicable law, or our payment processor's rules. Where reasonable, we will tell you why and what to do next; for serious or fraud-related issues, we may act first and communicate after.
When an account is closed, we keep the records we are legally or operationally required to retain (payments, refunds, disputes, bookings, consent history, audit logs). The retention details live in the Privacy Policy.
11. Disputes and Support
If you have a problem with a booking, a payment, a tutor, or a client, contact Lett support at support@lettnet.com first. We try to resolve issues directly. For card-network disputes, you also have the chargeback rights provided by your card issuer; we will respond to chargebacks through our payment processor's dispute process.
Governing law and region. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. At launch, Lett is offered only in Ontario, Canada.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Lett is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, the conduct of other users, or the performance of any tutor's services. Our maximum liability for any claim related to a booking is limited to the amount you paid Lett for that booking.
This section does not limit any rights you have under consumer-protection law that cannot be waived.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. When we do, we publish a new version with a later effective date. For Terms or Privacy Policy updates that materially change the bargain, we may ask you to re-accept the updated Terms before you continue to use the service.
